March 26 COVID-19 Thought of the Day – “Devoted in Love”

Be devoted to one another in love. Honor one another above yourselves. Never be lacking in zeal, but keep your spiritual fervor, serving the Lord.Be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, faithful in prayer. Share with the Lord’s people who are in need. Practice hospitality.” –Romans 12: 10-13

We get to do that as the family of God. We get to be lifting one another up, encouraging one another, walking through life with one another. We are honoring God as we honor those around us. As we’re putting them first, as we’re seeing ways we can lift them up and be closer to Jesus, we are honoring God.

As we go through each aspect of today, think of it as an act of worship, as an act of serving Christ. Whoever it may be for, see it as an opportunity to do it for Jesus. That will be your inspiration to do all you do with joy, with patience, and with faithfulness as we are in prayer for those around us.

We get to put this scripture in practice this week and in the weeks to come. As we walk through this time of this virus, don’t lose sight of that. Let Jesus be the foundation of your life, that he would be the source of hope in your life. Let that hope, that living hope, bring joy to you each and every day.

Be patient in this time. Don’t try to run ahead of God. Trust in God and in his presence as we walk each day. Be faithful in your prayers and be praying for those around us, the needs we have, our state, our nation, and our world. Seek God, spend the time with him that he values having with us. Let us enjoy, value, and prioritize those moments of prayer as we put aside the world and all its demands to rest and come before Him. Like Mary at Jesus’ feet, we should be in communication and supplication, talking to him and pouring out our hearts to him. Practice hospitality in every avenue of life: toward our neighbors, toward our community, toward our church family. As God gives us opportunity, reflect Him in the world around us.
