How Will They Preach by Jason G. Lutz

How Will They Preach by Jason G. Lutz

How will they preach unless they are sent? Just as it is written, ” HOW BEAUTIFUL ARE THE FEET OF THOSE WHO BRING GOOD NEWS OF GOOD THINGS!“”
(‭‭Romans‬ ‭10:15‬ ‭NASB‬‬)

I could probably start every devotion with the statement “we had a tragedy recently”.  In this I do not think I am alone when I suggest that a school shooting crosses a mental barrier and we need to grow our perspective.  I do not have policy solutions, I pray those responsible for policy do and hope to see some “here is what we can do now” changes.  I do not think we should in our minds try to minimize this as just something that happens.  Practically qualified, I think believers should ask themselves a really hard question: how many died not knowing the saving Grace of Jesus Christ?

Quite often I wake up with a shock before my alarm in anxiety about the salvation of those whom I care about.  There are people very dear to me who I fear we will not see in New Jerusalem and this often haunts my mornings.  No system or philosophy be it marxism or socialism or democracy has been able to bring heaven to earth; our completeness is simply not here.  How many are losing both their earthly lives and eternal lives unnecessarily early?
And time is really the issue here isn’t?  St. Peter tells us plainly that God holds off the Final Judgement because He wants all to come to repentance.  And yet Jesus stresses the urgency of the day.  Contradiction or paradox?
Perhaps it is a mandate?  God is patient because He wants His messengers to share the Good News.  He is giving us opportunity.  But the nature of this fallen world takes life unfairly, it always has.  More simply, you have no idea if right now is your last opportunity to share the Gospel with someone.

Grace be with you,

Jason
