Relationship-Driven Ministry by Jason G. Lutz

Relationship-Driven Ministry by Jason G. Lutz

It would be an understatement to say that the Apostle Paul has gained one of the largest stages in the world.  Jesus is the rock and our foundation, but Paul – under inspiration of the Spirit – built upon that Rock the very fundamentals of our shared faith.  His letters to churches are very much the structure of our lives in Christ.  Brilliant scholars have written whole books on a few of his words.  All that and still his God-ordained ministry was relationship driven.

No doubt Paul stood upon Mars Hill before the Athenian know-it-alls.  No doubt Paul spoke before angry crowds.  Yet, he was even more likely to teach a family at night or share the Good News with a small group of people.  What is more his letters were addressed to individual churches and people.  The guidance of the Spirit molded these letters into the New Testament.  Yes!  This means the voice of God through the Apostle was relationship driven.

This should be no real surprise.  Jesus has a relationship-driven ministry, in which He teaches us that our repentant and redemptive relationship with God the Father is more important than anything else.  Christ saves us to bring us out of sin and into the Grace of God.

Can you sense I am building to something here?  There is no good reason that each and every believer should not have a relationship-driven ministry.  It is as simple as seeking out and taking an interest in someone and encouraging them in their relationship with God the Father through Jesus Christ.  Sharing in the glory of God with someone in some way (texts count here) should be an objective on a believer’s to-do list every single day.

Grace be with you,

Jason
