Then the angel said to them, “Do not be afraid, for behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy which will be to all people. For there is born to you this day in the city of David a Savior, who is Christ the Lord.
(Luke‬ ‭2:10-11‬ ‭NKJV‬‬)
I love Christmas.  I just love it.  I love the hustle and bustle, I love the gifts, and I love the fellowship.  And how could I forget the cookies?  All of this no doubt clouds the view of the birth our Savior, but biblical knowledge shows that Jehovah loves a feast thrown in His honor.
We do well to remember that many kids who have very few good things happen to them 364 days of the year are treated to wonderful things by strangers at Christmas.  I think we all find a little extra cheer and generosity this time a year and this God will bless.  And family, family was a big deal to God’s people.
But I do not want to make a defense of Christmas as we celebrate it.  What I want to say is that perhaps we should remember the Power of God coming into the world all year around.  All of us tend to get hung up on self-improvement, political action, or a list of other things and in doing so we risk forgetting that the final human problem, that is sin, has already be solved.
He came to give us His Kingdom.  He came to teach us His ways.  He came because God coming to earth answered people’s prayers.  This is an amazing and wonderful thing.  The Power of the Church is not in us being better, it is in God demonstrating His glory.

Merry Christmas,

Jason
