Make no Mistake by Jason G. Lutz

Having then gifts differing according to the grace that is given to us…”
‭‭(Romans‬ ‭12:6‬ ‭KJV‬‬)
Considering our Gifts.  Who is this God that crosses the great abyss to not only redeem us but also give us abilities and talents for the purpose of edifying his church?  What other than the human frailty, which we all suffer, can doubt the Power of One who holds the stars in the sky and yet gives me the Gift of encouragement?  It is grand to serve Jehovah.
But before we move to misunderstanding, we must know that our Gifts are His to give.  In this we do not posses them as we posses a degree in economics or the skill to weld (although these might at times be useful to the Kingdom).  He gives as His church needs.  I think we understand this, yet we wrestle with it.
I imagine that we all know that Gifts rightly used are used for His glory.  I imagine that we all understand the risk of using Gifts for personal gain or to fill our ego.  I also imagine we see this better in others than in ourselves.
Where I think (I know) we wrestle is when we say “this or that is not my Giftedness”.  This is where we must most fully understand that Gifts are His to give not ours to posses.  Do we doubt the Power of God to bring out encouragement in the shy?  Do we doubt the Power of God to put in a place leadership the  one who seemingly lacks vision?  Do we doubt the Power of God to place the faith of His church in one who doubts much?  Make no mistake, He might just call you to the Gift you least identify with.  Make no mistake, it will be challenging.  Make no mistake He is God and He is free to give and to demand as He sees fit.
