Appearance of Evil by Jason G. Lutz

Appearance of Evil by Jason G. Lutz

“Abstain from all appearance of evil.”
(‭‭1 Thessalonians‬ ‭5:22‬ ‭KJV‬‬)

I just do not like to be influenced by current events or create lists, but I am going to do both today.  I am not going to push my perspective of the Supreme Court nomination upon you.  What I want to do is what I always strive to do, relate what the Bible clearly reveals.  And the Bible has much to say about how a Christian is to carry themselves.

Let me add weight to the coming statements, each one of us is responsible for his or her actions before God’s judgement seat.  Christians will face the consequences of sin in this life and our Father does discipline those whom He loves.  Those outside the faith will face the consequences of sin in this life, a broken relationship with their Creator, and store up wrath for themselves in the day of judgement.  Furthermore, Jesus was quite clear that one should gouge out their eye opposed to even thinking about a shameful sexual act.  This established…
Men, there is more of a devil in you than you can ever imagine.  The Word cannot be more clear that your God given value is in godliness, intelligence, and charity not sexuality.  You must own this by asking for God’s active grace and put in the work to live out 1 Timothy Chapter 3.  Seek wisdom!  Late nights from home, drinking parties, coarse joking, gossip, and pornography in all it’s forms will only fuel the corruption within you.  Put them away!
Women, there is more of a devil in you than you can ever imagine.  The Word cannot be more clear that your God given value is in godliness, intelligence, and charity not sexuality.  You must own this by asking for God’s active grace and put in the work to live out Proverbs Chapter 31.  Seek wisdom!  Late nights from home, drinking parties, coarse joking, gossip, and pornography in all its forms will only fuel the corruption within you.  Put them away!
Wisdom is not grandstanding and signaling virtue while condemning others.  Wisdom is acknowledging that I am capable of things that terrify me, please God my Father work your grace in me.  And He will do so.
Grace be with you,

Jason
