Vision Statements
We envision worship that is vibrantly alive with the presence and power of God. Our praises and prayers exalt God. The Word of God is clearly and accurately proclaimed. The Holy Spirit draws believers and unbelievers to a mature relationship with the Lord Jesus Christ.
We envision sharing what Jesus Christ has done for the world with multitudes of people in the Kanawha Valley and seeing many receive him as Lord. We envision welcoming new Christians of various ages, ethnic background, and economic situations into our church family to relate, and work together in unity as we serve the Lord Jesus Christ.
We envision a fellowship where those victimized by the evil of the world; the addicted, the depressed , the oppressed and the confused are finding love, acceptance, forgiveness, new life, a senses of belonging, hope, guidance, help, encouragement , and the ability to celebrate a life in Christ.
We envision helping people of all ages to rebirth in Christ and growth toward spiritual maturity. We picture every believer hungering and thirsting for God and feeding daily on His Word. We envision every Christian becoming biblically literate, prating Christian morality, and adhering to basic spiritual disciplines. We envision strong marriages, Godly children, healthy families, faithful singles, and dynamic senior citizens.
We envision the self- centered transformed into servants who use their gifts in unity with other believers to becoming powerful ministry teams. We envision believers learning to be Godly leaders who fulfill their potential to impact the world
We envision teaching all believers to stand against lies, accusation and deceptions of Satan so they overcome evil with good. We envision Christians equipped with the armor and weapons of spiritual warfare winning daily victories over the “ world, the flesh, and the devil.”
We envision establishing new churches and strengthening existing churches in order to communicate the gospel of Christ with more unchurched people.
We envision a fellowship of people who with joyful and willing hearts give generously and sacrificially to touch one another and the world with the love of Christ. We envision believers who are learning to be excellent stewards of money, time, and talents God has entrusted to their management.
We envision having excellent, handicap accessible, facilities that include classrooms for Bible study and training for ministry, a worship center, a pray center, a recreation center, facilities appropriate for children’s ministry, youth ministry, music ministry, counseling ministry, and ministry to seniors.
Mission Statement
“Show the World the Best Possible Life is in Jesus”
“Show the World” – Demonstrate by word and example to the world.
“The Best Possible Life” – Choices have both good and bad consequences. Choosing to follow Jesus Christ as your Savior and Lord will lead you to experience the best possible life in this world and forever.
“In Jesus” – To be “in Jesus” or “In Christ” is New Testament wording for being part of the Kingdom of God and the Church. It means to have the Living Christ as your Master or Lord.
The Meaning of the Emmanuel Baptist Church logo:
The logo was designed by Sharon Ford. She was writing various styles of the letters EB when she wrote the cursive intertwined “EB” of the logo. Her husband Doug was watching and pointed out some things he saw in the letters and she developed it from there. Notice that the top of the “E” and the “B” link together to form the Christian symbol of the “Fish.”
Fish: Greek Word: “ίχθϋς” – “ichthus” The five Greek letters are the first letters of the Greek words that translate to English: “ Jesus Christ God’s Son Savior” In times of persecution early Christians used this symbol of the fish to identify other believers who could be trusted.
Cross: The second symbol within the cursive “EB” is the cross. The vertical stroke of the “B” is crossed by the upper part of the “B.”
Two hearts: The upper part of the “E” and the “B” form the shape of a heart and the lower parts do the same. The symbolism is that the heart of God and the heart of the believer are bound together in the cross of Christ. The believer’s heart is obediently submitted to the loving heart of God.
Therefore the logo reminds us of the loving relationship we have with God and with one another through Christ Jesus our Lord.
