2 Peter 1:4 by Jason G. Lutz

I am typing this early Wednesday morning and I have just learned the result of the presidential election. I imagine some of you will be frustrated. I also imagine that some of you will be pleased. Condolences or congrats either way. I’m relieved that it is over. But on the same note today brings forth an end, which begs the question: where do we go from here?.

The election gave a certain meaning and validity to our lives. We have a vote, we are citizens, and others are interested in our thoughts. In other words, we are important to the process. This is not a negative in any way (actually democracy is kinda great), while the campaigns themselves have been questionable at best; many people have said many interesting things. But I believe entirely that today is the day to understand that our Kingdom is transcendent and our King is unchangeable (gracefully).

by which he has granted to us his precious and very great promises, so that through them you may become partakers of the divine nature, having escaped from the corruption that is in the world because of sinful desire (2 Peter 1:4)

Now I am going to flip the script and make this about prayer. Nowhere does our Father tell us that He will pander to our opinions as if running a campaign. But Saint Peter does tell us that we are partakers of the divine nature. We are important to the Process. Our opinions and thoughts are interesting and important to Him. We have validity in His Kingdom. Our King wants to hear our voices. So where do we go from here? In prayer.
